In a recent interview, the director of the ‘Joker’ franchise with Joaquin Phoenix stated that “we’ve already said what we wanted to say in this world”
“Joker 3” is unlikely to happen. Although the second film in the franchise, “Joker: Delirium for Two,” has not yet been released, the director Todd Phillips revealed in a recent interview with Variety (via Omelete) that the films about the Clown Prince of Crime starring Joaquin Phoenix should not have any more sequences.
“I would love to continue working with Joaquin (Phoenix), but in a comedy, because he can be so free and funny. And I think people want comedies these days. The trailer for Joker 2 sums it up when it says, ‘What the world needs is love. ‘ But I would go further: We can use a good laugh, too,” Phillips said. “It’s been fun to play with that universe for two movies, but I think we’ve said what we want to say in that world.”
It is worth remembering that “Joker: Delirium for Two”, a sequel to the 2019 Oscar-winning film, is scheduled to premiere on October 3rd, and will feature Joaquin Phoenix sharing the spotlight with Lady Gagasinger and actress who will play Harley Quinn, the main character’s romantic partner. In addition to the duo, also confirmed for the film are Ken Leung, Zazie Beetz, Steve Coogan, Brendan Gleeson and Catherine Keener.
