Find out the name of Moana’s younger sister, a character who will be introduced with the release of the first sequel to the 2016 film
With the release of the official trailer for “Moana 2” on the first day of the D23 Expo, held on August 10 in Anaheim, California, United States, fans of Disney’s tenth princess were able to meet a new character: Moana’s younger sister.
The little girl with wavy hair appears in the first thirty seconds of the preview, and seems to be very close to Moana, as she complains about her sister taking so long to return home before discovering more about the history of the island she lives on from the perspective of the navigator princess; check it out!
The trailer also reveals that the sisters will have to separate so that Moana can embark on a new mission across the ocean, since, after receiving a special calling from her ancestors, she will face the distant seas of Oceania to break a new curse and find people beyond the island where she lives with the purpose of uniting the people again.
But what is Moana’s sister’s name?
Although she is highlighted in the preview, the name of Moana’s sister remains a secret until the end of the 2:16 video. However, as reported by the CBR portal, the little girl’s name is Simea, and she is voiced by Khaleesi Lambert-Tsuda.
Still, Simea isn’t the only new character. In addition to Chief Tui’s youngest daughter, leader of the Motunui community, engineer Loto, farmer Kele and Maui’s enthusiastic superfan Moni were also revealed, voiced by Rose Matafeo, David Fane and Hualalai Chungrespectively, who will be part of the new crew.
To give voice to Moana, Auli’i Cravalho returned to the dubbing studio, as well as Dwayne JohnsonThe Rock, who voices the demigod Maui, who helps the young girl return Te Fiti’s heart in the first film released in 2016, and now returns to help the girl on her new journey.
It is worth remembering that the trio, alongside the rooster Hei-hei, the pet pig Pua and Maui, will be responsible for helping Moana find the lost island of Motufetu, which once connected the oceans, and is now hidden by a complex entity, called the God of Storms.
The plot is commanded by the storyboarder David Derrick Jr.who makes his directorial debut, becoming the first Samoan to direct a Walt Disney Animation Studios film. “Moana 2” opens in theaters worldwide on November 28 this year.
