Starring Blake Lively and Justin Baldonithe feature film “It Ends With Us” hit theaters last Thursday, August 8th. Adapted from the book by the North American author Colleen Hooverthe production is marked by a vibrant soundtrack of pop songs that intensify the narrative experience, including the participation of Taylor Swiftwho contributed the film’s main music.
The track “my tears ricochet” from the album “folklore” explores melancholic topics involving grief, pain and the end of a relationship. In the film, the protagonist Lily Bloom faces a period of overcoming trauma while also dealing with conflicting feelings towards one of her romantic interests, which matches the lyrics of the song by Taylor Swift.
Additionally, “my tears ricochet” saw a notable increase in searches after being included on the film’s soundtrack. According to data from CNN and Google Trends, the song reached its highest peaks in popularity on May 16, when the trailer was released by Sony Pictures, and on August 11, three days after the film’s premiere; listen up!
This is not the first time that Taylor Swift appears on the soundtracks of successful productions with her iconic album “folklore”. In 2023, the singer granted the copyright to the song “seven” for the second season of the young adult series “Heartstopper”, on Netflix. The song, which explores themes of love, nostalgia and the special moments shared over time, aligns perfectly with the scene in which it is shown in the series, where the characters celebrate these feelings with each other.
Now in the second season of “The Summer I Changed My Life”, on Prime Video, the track “invisible string” brings to life a romantic scene between the protagonists Conrad and Belly as they enjoy the snow on the beach. Listen to the full album below!
