Understand what happened to BTS’s Suga in the recent controversy

On Wednesday, the 7th, Suga, a member of BTS, was the target of a huge controversy that reverberated on social media. Understand what happened!

In the early hours of this Wednesday, the 7th, the South Korean press reported the news that Sucksa member of BTS, was caught by police officers driving an electric scooter while intoxicated, and is being investigated by the Yongsan Police Station for violating traffic laws.

According to Yonhap News (via Koreaboo), the idol was found by a police officer who was patrolling the area after falling on the street alone on the night of August 6 while riding an electric scooter. When he approached to help him, the officer smelled alcohol and took the artist to the nearest police station, where the singer was found to be drunk and was charged, receiving a fine and having his driver’s license revoked.

According to South Korean portal The JoongAng (via Koreaboo), the breathalyzer test Sucks had a result between 0.08 and 0.2%, a value that violates the Traffic Law and results in the suspension of his license. The exact percentage, however, was not disclosed by the police. It is worth noting that, in South Korea, driving electric scooters under the influence of alcohol is considered illegal, as it can cause accidents.

The information was confirmed by BigHit Music, which released an official statement on Wednesday morning. Check it out!

“Hello, this is BIGHIT MUSIC.

We apologize for BTS member Suga’s electric scooter accident.

On the evening of August 6 (Tuesday), Suga was on his way home in a drunken state, riding an electric scooter and wearing a helmet. He crashed while parking after moving about 500 meters, and the police officer who was nearby gave him a breathalyzer test, resulting in a fine and the revocation of his license. No one was injured, and no property damage occurred due to the incident, and he was taken home into police custody.

We apologize for the disappointment caused by our artist’s inappropriate behavior. As a public servant, he will receive appropriate disciplinary action from his workplace for causing a public disturbance.

We will take more care to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.

Thanks”.

Moments later, via Weverse, Sucks also made a point of speaking out, asking for forgiveness from ARMYs (BTS fans), for “bringing disappointing news”. See what the idol said:

“Hello, this is Suga.

I am very sad and apologize for bringing you disappointing news.

After drinking at a dinner party last night, I rode an electric scooter home. I violated the Traffic Law due to my complacent thinking that it was a short distance and my failure to recognize that using an electric scooter while intoxicated was prohibited. I crashed while parking the scooter in front of my house, and the nearby police officer conducted a breathalyzer test, resulting in the revocation of my license and a fine. Although there were no casualties or damaged facilities in this process, it is entirely my responsibility without any excuse, and I sincerely apologize to everyone.

I apologize to anyone who felt hurt by my careless and wrong actions, and I will be more careful in my actions in the future to prevent such incidents from occurring again.”

It is worth remembering that, currently, Sucks He is away from the stage because he is performing mandatory military service, where he serves as a public servant. His discharge is expected to take place only in June 2025.
