Understand the discussion that occurs among Disney fans regarding the true color of Princess Cinderella’s dress
Disney princesses are characters loved by thousands of fans around the world, with their figures being easily recognized by people of all ages.
Due to their popularity, it is extremely common to end up remembering some princesses when we see certain items, such as the rose, which reminds us of “Beauty and the Beast”, or the apple, which makes anyone think of Snow White.
For Cinderella, it’s easy to think of Cinderella when you look at a pumpkin, when someone leaves a shoe behind, or even whenever you see a beautiful light blue dress. However, the latter topic has been generating discussion among fans for a few years now.
This is because many Disney fans point out that, in fact, the princess’s dress is not blue, but white, and that the blue color would only have been adopted in the products sold as part of a marketing strategy, as it would attract more attention.
On the other hand, one of the pieces of evidence pointed out by defenders of the blue dress is the scene in which Cinderella dances with the prince — a moment in which, for opponents, the dress only appears with a different color due to the lighting in the place.

The true color of the dress
As reported by Polygon in 2023, the discussion was finally clarified when the Disney team began work on restoring the animation released in 1950, to transform it into 4K. At the time, Eric Goldbergveteran animator and director of the studios of Walt Disneyrevealed that “For many years, Cinderella didn’t have the right colors.”
“Your hair [é] “She’s got a dusty blonde hair, and her dress is silver. And over the years, we’ve seen her hair look the color of Cheez Whiz. We’ve seen her dress be bright blue. We’ve seen all kinds of things. So for me and Michael Giaimo, the first thing was, let’s get the hair and the dress right,” Goldberg explained (via Polygon).
The Walt Disney Studios’ director of restoration, Kevin Schaefferstill comments that he does not know the real reason why the character’s colors have been so distorted over the years. However, with the beginning of the work, he decided that he should return to the original tones.
“Eric brought some art from the animation research library [do Congresso] who were like, ‘This is the hair color. This is the mother’s dress.’ That really helped us ground that and get back to what it really should be, and what it was originally,” he concluded.
