“Shut up, we will hear you.” Why is silence (often) the best strategy?

Those who know me know that I talk a lot. Even talking, it seems when I sleep, that’s how bad it is. That’s why when I got this book from Amelie Blankert in the newspaper, Shut up, we’ll hear you (1), I was immediately drawn to its title and theme. It echoes my current thoughts. Because in business, as elsewhere, I understand what a powerful weapon silence is. First, it allows you to think. Don’t react hastily, like a good student who wants to show that he has the answer to everything, the opposite of knowledge. Silence gives time for the mind to develop and build itself, which prevents you from regretting saying it. This also allows us to say: “I do not know”: Which, in my eyes, remains one of the greatest proofs of intelligence.
