Prince Joachim’s son Felix of Denmark celebrated his 22nd birthday with his brothers and sister at Château de Cayx in southern France.
Like Prince George of Great Britain, Count Felix of Denmark was born on July 22. On the occasion of his 22nd birthday, the youngest son of Denmark’s Prince Joachim was photographed alongside his brother, half-brother and half-sister in an Instagram post shared by the Danish royal family. In the description, the royal palace said: “His Excellency Count Felix is celebrating his birthday and 22nd birthday today. The count celebrates his birthday at Château de Cayx in France with his family.
Thus, the photos were taken at the residence of the royal family, which is located in the Lot belonging to Queen Margaret II. While Prince Joachim left Paris to settle in Washington with his second wife Princess Marie and two children (Henrik and Athena), this event allowed the family to reunite over the summer.
On that occasion, Count Nikolai (24 years old) wore a khaki shirt, beige pants and black moccasins. Count Felix (age 22) and Count Henrik (age 15) both wore white shirts with beige chinos for one and jeans for the other. For her part, Countess Athena (age 12), as a teenager (almost) like the others, wore a black top over dark blue jeans and white sneakers.
In a second photo shared by his big brother Nikolai on his Instagram story, Felix is also all smiles at his birthday breakfast, surrounded by lots of small Danish flags.

From Prince to Count
Count Felix was born on 22 July 2002 in Copenhagen, the second son of Prince Joachim and Alexandra Manley. Like his brothers, sisters and cousins, he is Count of Montpezzat, a title said to have been created for the descendants of Prince Henri de Laborde de Montpezzat, the late French husband of Queen Margret II. Indeed, on September 28, 2022, during her golden jubilee, Queen Margrethe II of Denmark announced the dismissal of four of her eight grandchildren in early 2023, before passing the torch to her eldest son, Crown Prince Frederik. From January 1, 2023, Felix of Denmark will lose the title of prince and become an earl like the rest of his siblings. A decision that highlighted an already existing rift between Denmark’s current King Frederik and his younger brother Prince Joachim, who is the father of four abdicated children.
