‘Logan’ Director Reveals He Hates Multiverses: ‘Death of Storytelling’

In a recent interview, James Mangold, director of “Logan”, expressed his aversion to the concept of multiverses; find out more!

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, James Mangolddirector of “Logan”, has expressed his aversion to the concept of multiverses. Despite his previous involvement with Marvel Studios, which now extensively explores multiverses in its stories, Mangold considers this concept to be the “enemy of narrative”. Check out the full statement:

I don’t do multiverses (…) It’s weird that I’ve worked in the IP-based entertainment world because I don’t like building universes with multiple movies. I think it’s the enemy of storytelling. The death of storytelling. People are more interested in how the Legos connect than how the story works in front of us.

For me, the goal is always, ‘What’s unique about this movie and these characters?’ Not to make you think of some other movie or some Easter egg or anything else, which is all an intellectual act, not an emotional act. You want the movie to work on an emotional level.”

The interview of Mangold aimed to talk about the film “A Complete Unknown”, a biopic of Bob Dylan starring Timothée Chalamet, which will premiere in December of this year. In addition, the actor Hugh Jackmanwho played the protagonist of Logan (Wolverine), returns to the big screen in “Deadpool and Wolverine”, which premiered this Thursday, 25th, in Brazilian cinemas.
