After Min Hee Jin accused Source Music of stealing her release strategy, the agency defended itself through a new statement. Read on!
On the morning of Tuesday, the 23rd, the South Korean portal Dispatch published a long article containing a series of accusations against Min Hee JinCEO of ADOR, including that the businesswoman had “stolen” the members of NewJeans from Source Music so she could release them under her own label.
Following the release of the report, the company issued a statement on YTN (via Koreaboo), saying: “(The report) is false and defamatory information. We are currently preparing to take legal action.”
Yet, Hee Jin would also have accused Source Music of copying its launch strategy for the new group, allegedly presented to Bang Si Hyukfounder and president of HYBE, in 2020, when she was still Chief Brand Officer (CBO) of BIGHIT MUSIC, where, according to the businesswoman, Si Hyuk would have advised her to use the plan on her own record label.
Hours after the announcement, representatives for Source Music shared a new statement denying all allegations, in addition to stating that they will file further legal representation against Min Hee Jin. Check out the full translation:
“As the statement from ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin released today includes false allegations about Source Music, we inevitably need to inform you of the accurate facts.
1. Min Hee Jin’s claim that Source Music copied her release strategy is false. Source Music never copied the then-CBO’s release strategy. [Chief Brand Officer] Min Hee Jin and never acknowledged the content of CBO Min’s complaint.
2. Chairman Bang Si Hyuk’s opinion on the launch strategy that then CBO Min Hee Jin proposed in May 2020 was that she would execute her proposed strategy not with N Team [o nome do projeto para o grupo feminino que eventualmente se tornou o NewJeans]but with an entirely new team formed at the label established by CBO Min. Although CEO Min is well aware of the discussion at that time, she is distorting the truth to make it seem like Chairman Bang suggested that she execute her release strategy through N Team.
Min Hee Jin is continually spreading falsehoods about Source Music, and so we are informing you that in addition to the lawsuit previously filed against CEO Min for compensatory damages, we plan to take strong legal action in response to this matter as well. We are also announcing that if necessary to prove the truth, we are willing to release the evidence we have in our possession at any time.
Thanks”.
