In a recent interview, Jin revealed some difficulties regarding the weather conditions during his 18 months serving in the South Korean army.
After his discharge from military service, Jinfrom BTS, has appeared at several South Korean events and media outlets, both to discuss matters related to his artistic career and to talk about the 18 months he served in the army between 2023 and 2024.
In a recent interview with W Korea magazine (via Koreaboo), the idol revealed that, in the beginning, while completing his training in the Yeoncheon region of Gyeonggi Province, the weather conditions were a difficult factor to deal with.
He comments that the climate reaches its extremes during the seasons, where temperatures could go “beyond imagination”. Jin also says he still remembers the cold winter air he felt the day he enlisted:
I enlisted in December 2022. My friend checked the weather app on the day he (also) enlisted, and the temperature that day was around -30°C (laughs). I found it incredible that winter temperatures could drop so low.”
Some veteran soldiers had already warned him about the drastic change in temperatures both in winter and in the heat. But, as much as the idol didn’t believe it, Jin reveals that he ended up withstanding the temperatures, especially in the light, as he considers himself resistant to the climate:
When people who had been in the unit longer than me said, ‘The summer weather is also beyond imagination,’ I thought, ‘No way,’ but it was really hot in the summer (…) I’m quite heat-resistant, so it wasn’t unbearable, but I remember it getting to about 40°C.
