In the army between December 13, 2022 and June 12 this year, BTS’ Jin shared one of the challenging experiences he had during that period.
Jinthe oldest member of BTS, was an active soldier in the South Korean army for 18 months. With that in mind, the idol spoke to W Korea magazine (via Koreaboo) about the period in which he fulfilled the mandatory military enlistment for South Korean men, revealing, among other subjects, one of the challenging experiences he had while wearing the military uniform.
This because, Jin was appointed assistant drill instructor, a title granted to those who demonstrate great physical ability during the training period, with some specific parameters as parameters, such as hitting 18 or more than 20 shots on target and finishing a 3-kilometer race in 12 minutes and 30 seconds.
Mainly about the running time required for this achievement, Jin He said that “it was challenging” since he didn’t consider himself athletic.
At first, it was challenging for me to run 3 kilometers in 15 minutes. However, I gradually got in shape as I practiced running every day. When I was a new recruit, I always finished the race in the top positions. I think I was able to be promoted to an elite soldier because I developed the stamina to complete a 3-kilometer run.
Still, he reveals that the resilience he acquired is also a result of his background as an idol, as it took a lot of training to become a member of BTS and a solo singer. So much so that when asked if he would have become an elite soldier without his experience on stage, he replied: “I don’t think so.”
please note that Jin was the first member of BTS to enlist. The idol began military training on December 13, 2022, and was released from his duties in the Armed Forces on June 12 of this year. The remaining members of the group (RM, Sucks, Jimin, J-Hope, V It is Jungkook) still fulfill their duties as soldiers.
