The Classic ‘Frozen’ Song That Was Almost Scrapped

Before the final version of ‘Frozen’ was released, one of the unforgettable songs from the soundtrack was almost left out of the story

When it comes to songs from the ‘Frozen’ soundtrack, what’s the first track that comes to mind? It’s likely that the answer is “Let It Go,” after all, the song won the Oscar for Best Original Song in 2014. Check it out!

Still, it doesn’t take much effort to remember other notable tracks from the animation, since Kristen Anderson-Lopez It is Robert Lopez did a great job writing and composing songs that help convey the characters’ emotions to the audience like “Love Is an Open Door” and “For the First Time in Forever”.

With 10 tracks created by the couple especially for the film that presented the story of Elsa and Anna, one of them was almost left out of the final version that arrived in US theaters on November 27, 2013.

The Classic ‘Frozen’ Song That Was Almost Scrapped

As found by the Screenrant portal, the animation went through several changes during the production period and, as a result, some songs were cut — among these, “Do You Want To Build A Snowman?” (“Do you want to play in the snow?”, in the translated version), was almost discarded.

It turns out that the team behind the feature film was concerned about the tone that the song could bring to the story, making the decision to remove it after the first screenings of the film as they felt that it could be too sad for a Disney film, even though the story has a high dramatic load, as explained by the producer. Peter Del Vecho.

However, after further screenings of the film without the song, there was a further deliberation and the track was brought back, as test audiences questioned why it had been removed.

It is worth remembering that, in the first film of the franchise, Anna and Elsa are sisters separated in childhood by their parents when Elsa loses control of her ice powers, but who need to unite again to end a terrible curse that has put the kingdom of Arendelle in a deep winter and threatens the survival of everyone who lives there.

Thus, “Do You Want To Build A Snowman?” is inserted right after the sisters’ separation, showing Anna’s attempts to get closer to Elsa at different stages of her life, even though her sister, who also wanted to have this contact, never crossed the door so that they could have the chance to live together as before; remember!
