Jin opens up about difficulties at BTS FESTA 2024

It’s been almost a month sinceJinfrom BTS, was exempted from mandatory military service in South Korea. Shortly after returning to his activities as an idol, he has already participated in some events related to his music career, including BTS FESTA 2024, which celebrated the boy group’s 11th anniversary on June 13.

In a recent interview with Weverse Magazine, Jin commented on some of the difficulties of returning to the stage just one day after being discharged from the army, since his hiatus lasted more than a year. He admitted that he purposely blocked the fans’ applause, as he was afraid that his emotions would ruin the moment:

Fans might not want to hear this, but I tried really hard not to let the feelings get to me. I mean, it was the day after I got out of the army… I thought I might cry if I started singing, which would make me really nervous and emotional. I had to put on a good show for the fans, so I couldn’t let myself get so choked up that I couldn’t sing. So I purposely turned up the volume in my ears to try to drown out the emotions and closed my eyes during the first song.

Before being dismissed, Jin He also mentioned that he tried experimenting with a traditional Korean medicinal pill called Cheongsimhwan to see if it could help control his emotions and during the performance. However, he revealed that the experiment didn’t work and ended up damaging his throat in the process:

I tried taking a cheongsimhwan when I was returning to base after taking some time off. I wanted to see in advance whether taking it would dry out my throat or not and how much it could calm me down. But it ended up making my throat really dry, and I was afraid that my voice might crack when I sang…
