The Shrek franchise is one of the most successful in the animated world, since, in addition to receiving the first Oscar in the category of Best Animated Feature with the debut title in 2002, the story that satirizes classic fairy tales by presenting a grumpy ogre who risks his life to save a princess imprisoned in a tower to have his swamp free of magical creatures, but ends up discovering true love, received two spin-offs, several short films, video games, and is now heading towards the fifth original film.
‘Shrek 5’ has been the subject of speculation in the media for years, but the first official information was only revealed by DreamWorks last Tuesday, the 9th, where it was possible to discover who the cast and crew members are, when the film hits theaters and much more.

CAST
Just like in the other films in the franchise, Eddie Murphyconfirmed that he will return to the cast of the new title to voice Donkey, as well as Mike Myerswho voices Shrek in the original version, and Cameron Diazwho also returned as the interpreter of Princess Fiona.
TEAM
“Shrek 5” will be directed by Walt Dohrnscreenwriter and artist for Shrek 2 and 3 who was also cast as head of story for ‘Shrek Forever After’, the film in which he voiced Rumpelstiltskin.
In addition to Dohrnthe founder of Illumination, Chris Meledandriwill also be at the helm of the film as co-director, while Gina Shayalready known for her work on ‘Shrek Forever After’, ‘Shrek for Christmas’ and ‘Puss in Boots: The Three Diablos’, returns as producer.
RELEASE DATE OF
The film will premiere directly in theaters in the United States on July 1, 2026. In Brazil, the official release date has not yet been confirmed.

Confirmation of the premiere of ‘Shrek 5′ was made with the release of the first teaser of the animation. Published on DreamWorks’ official social networks, the 12-second video also reveals the names that will return to the voice cast while the franchise’s theme song, ‘All Star’, by the band Smash Mouth, plays in the background; check it out!
