American film producer Jon Landau has passed away at the age of 63. Variety reported on Saturday, July 6.
According to journalists, the filmmaker, known for his work on Titanic and two parts of Avatar, died of cancer.
Jon Landau was born on July 23, 1960 in New York. He began his career in the 1980s as a film production manager.
Jon Landau produced Avatar (2009), Avatar: The Way of Water (2022) and Titanic (1997), which are the first, third and fourth highest-grossing films in history. He also worked in the films Honey, I Shrunk Our Children (1989), Dick Tracy (1990, the film won three Oscars), Solaris by Steven Soderbergh (2002), Alita: Battle Angel (2019) by Robert Rodriguez.
In total, Landau has more than 20 films, in which he worked as a producer.
