In pictures: 5-star immersion on the island of Cyprus

There are establishments from which we could never leave during our entire stay. One of them is the “Amara” hotel in Cyprus. A few kilometers from Limassol, on the Greek side of the island, the five-star estate offers a luxurious, modern and warm environment. We sleep in one of 207 rooms, all of which offer 180-degree views of the Mediterranean Sea, and dine to our heart’s content at no less than four world-renowned establishments.

The place?

Located on the south coast of the island, Amara overlooks Akrotiri Bay. Around the property you can visit Limassol (20 minutes drive), the second largest city in Cyprus with a cosmopolitan flair, as well as Paphos (one hour drive), a characterful city with its harbor and ancient ruins steeped in history and mythology. The tropical climate and 315 sunny days a year make it a dream destination, both in summer and winter.

Strengths:

We especially remember the sea view that is offered everywhere, no matter where you are in the hotel, including from the bathroom in your room, therefore. The opportunity to watch the blue color of the water during the day and the reflection of the moon on the waves at night.

The facility also houses one of the largest wellness centers on the island, with 3,000 m² of space dedicated to treatment and accessible to everyone, even if you are not a hotel guest. It’s time to relax in this place where you can enjoy treatments that combine Mediterranean rituals and modern experience, including a unique Cypriot treatment based on kipron, olive oil and coffee. The team of therapists there work with Cosmedix and Organic Pharmacy brand products, and treatments are personalized and tailored to each client’s specific needs. We also recommend swimming in the seawater infinity pool.

What do we eat?

A stay at Amara offers a true culinary experience. The hotel has four restaurants, each offering exceptional cuisine created by world-renowned chefs. It is possible to go there even if you are not staying at the facility.

The restaurant offers a wide variety of fish and seafood. On the terrace, under the sun umbrellas, you can enjoy langoustine or sea ceviche, cooked squid, homemade tarama… all this accompanied by the obligatory Greek salad. And we enjoy it.

Helmed by renowned Italian chef Giorgio Locatelli, the Michelin-starred London location opened shop at AMARA in 2019. You dine there in a romantic atmosphere on the terrace with a view (of course). The menu includes traditional and creative Italian dishes. We love the delicacy of the beef carpaccio and its parmesan, the depth of flavor of the homemade tagliatelle with baby ragu, and the delicacy of the roasted veal fillet accompanied by asparagus and endive.

Directly across from Monte Carlo, Beefbar is the hotel’s brand new address (opening June 13). Here you can enjoy the best cuts of beef from Australia, Japan and the USA. Among them are the veal tartare bite surrounded by a praline and sesame waffle, mini Kobe beef burgers or the USDA filet mignon from Creekstone Farms, a premium black Angus beef.

World-renowned chef Nobu Matsuhisa offers gourmet Japanese and Peruvian cuisine. Under the 200-seat restaurant’s dimmed lights and chic, contemporary ambiance, we enjoy the chef’s miso-marinated salmon, sashimi and California, as well as black cod, the famous white-flesh fish, marinated in yuzu and miso sauce; Something to delight your taste buds and enjoy one last view of the sea before bed.
