This July 1, 2024, Princess Diana would have celebrated her 63rd birthday. Some 27 years after her death, her former sister Sarah Ferguson, with whom she was particularly close, remembered the princess fondly.

No one has forgotten him. This July 1, 2024, Lady Diana would have celebrated her 63rd birthday. And on that occasion, some family members said touching words to the princess. This is particularly the case with Sarah Ferguson. On Instagram, Prince Andrew’s ex-wife dedicated a touching text to her “dear friend” who died on August 31, 1997 aged just 36.

“Happy birthday to my dearest friend Diana,” wrote Sarah Ferguson, aka Fergie, “You were a pillar of light and love. And you left behind such a legacy. I will remember our laughter and this closeness of spirit that I found in you,” she captioned a photo of the two young women on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

“I’m sure you’ll watch over us forever. Rest in peace my friend,” he added to his lively tribute.

Friends before their respective marriages

Before being Prince Charles and Prince Andrew’s respective wives, the two women have been friends since they were teenagers. “We’ve been best friends since she was 14 and I was 15,” Sarah Ferguson told People in 2021. She is also Princess Diana, nicknamed “Dutch” by Sarah Ferguson, who introduced her to Prince Andrew. “I told him. “Oh, Andrew is really handsome,” the Duchess of York recalled in an interview.

The two women also went through a thousand emotions together. Going out to nightclubs, trips to the police car… The two friends supported each other for a long time. “Diana and I both had issues with our mental health and she and I were talking,” the mother of Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie also recalled.
