The “Despicable Me” franchise is one of the most successful among children, both because of the charismatic villain Gru and the Minions, the famous little yellow creatures that present many comical moments throughout the story.
Next Thursday, July 4th, the fourth film in the franchise hits theaters, with a new story focused on Gru Jr., the youngest son of Gru and Lucy. However, the family’s momentary tranquility is interrupted when a dangerous criminal escapes from prison determined to take revenge on Gru.

1. Mega Minions
As previously mentioned, the Minions steal the show in every film they appear in, which even led to them getting their own story in 2015. In “Despicable Me 4” the tradition continues, as they still maintain the comedic tone, also introducing the Mega Minions, the result of experiments that can grant them unique abilities.
Furthermore, the actor Steve Carellwho voices Gru in English, stated through the official page of “Despicable Me 4” on X (old Twitter) that this was just the beginning of the appearance of the Mega Minions. Illumination has plans to create a Megaverse with the new variations of Minions during the next 100 years, extending the content beyond the movies; check it out!

2. Soundtrack
The soundtrack of “Despicable Me” is one of the most striking elements of the franchise, considering the success of the track “Happy”, composed and performed by the singer Pharrell Williamswas an immediate success after starring in “Despicable Me 2”.
In the new film, Pharrell returns with the opening song “Double Life”, as well as sharing the soundtrack with BTS, BLACKPINK and the 80’s hit “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” by Tears For Fears. Check out the track “Double Life” in the opening scene of “Despicable Me 4”:
3. Family Relationship
As the films progress, Gru’s family becomes larger. Margo, Edith, Agnes and Lucy have taken on an increasingly important role in the protagonist’s life, even leading him to give up his career as a villain to dedicate himself 100% to his daughters and marriage.
In “Despicable Me 4”, we see the responsibility increase even more due to the arrival of Gru Jr., his youngest son, who provides many moments of leisure and togetherness between Gru, Lucy and the girls, giving a taste of a “happy ending” to the story.
4. Villains Reunited
The villains of “Despicable Me” are crucial characters to the development of the films, as all four have unique characteristics. Vector, El Macho and Balthazar Bratt pass their legacy on to Maxime Le Mal in “Despicable Me 4”, who intends to take revenge on Gru for a past hurt.
At the end of the film, after discovering the true motivation behind the revenge, fans of the franchise will be surprised with a scene that brings together all the villains, offering some answers about their fate after the events of the previous films.

5. Dubbing
As in most animations, Brazilian dubbing is a topic that stands out.
