In addition to introducing us to new emotions, Anxiety, Boredom, Envy, Shame and Nostalgia, the film also features the arrival of other new characters inside and outside Riley’s head, such as her friends Bree and Grace, the girls on the hockey team. from high school, as well as Bloofy and Pouchy, protagonists of a children’s cartoon that the girl still likes, but is embarrassed to admit.
The duo appears in the plot after Joy, Fear, Disgust, Anger and Sadness are trapped in a jar by Anxiety, and sent deep into Riley’s subconscious, where they begin an adventure to try to return to the control center and prevent the new emotion. change the girl’s true conviction.
With that, the five characters are taken to a vault, where they find some of the girl’s biggest secrets, such as the Deep Dark Secret; Lance Stash Slashblade, the video game character the young woman has a secret crush on; and the duo Bloofy and Pouchy, characters from a children’s cartoon that Riley still secretly likes, and who appear animated in 2D.
Kelsey Manndirector of the film, explains in an interview with Indiewire that the studio decided to portray the characters with a different technique, because “[Bloofy’s House] It would have a limited budget, so we knew it wouldn’t be on the same level as a typical animated film here at Pixar.”
During the story, something that caught the attention of fans was the similarity between Bloofy and Pouchy with another famous children’s animation: “Dora the Explorer”. This is because, just like in the Nickelodeon cartoon, the Pixar duo follows the style of preschool programs, where they interact with viewers to get answers to their riddles.
Despite the clear reference, so far, Disney and Pixar have not yet confirmed whether the Easter egg is true, or whether it was all just a big coincidence. “Inside Out 2” is showing in cinemas across Brazil.
