At the 96th Academy Awards, 20 Days in Mariupol won the award for Best Documentary Feature.
The director of the film 20 days in Mariupol, Mstislav Chernov, has been invited to become a member of the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, reports Variety.
Along with 487 other industry figures, he will have the right to vote for nominees at the upcoming 97th Academy Awards in 2025.
“We are thrilled to welcome new Academy members this year. These are amazingly talented artists and professionals from around the world who have made a huge impact on our film community,” said Academy CEO Bill Kramer and Academy President Janet Young in a statement.
Earlier it was reported that the producer of the documentary film 20 days in Mariupol, Vasilisa Stepanenko, said how the team removed the footage from the occupied city.
