Tom Hardy’s father is adapting the book of a British soldier caught in the middle of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Hollywood actor Tom Hardy’s father, Edward, will co-write the script for the film adaptation of Sean Pinner’s biography about his experiences in the war in Ukraine. This was reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
Pinner’s live book. Fight back. Survive is the first-hand account of a British soldier who finds himself in the middle of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022. After marrying a Ukrainian woman and joining the military as a sniper instructor, he finds himself on the front line which defends Mariupol. Later, the military man was captured, where he was kept for several months.
The title of the book comes from a message his wife gave to Pinner in his last call before his capture.
Edward Hardy said he was excited to be attached to adapt Shaun’s book for film, adding that it is an unparalleled story of human resilience.
“This is an extraordinary story of human resilience in a time of war that is right on our doorstep,” he said.
In this regard, the author of the book noted that his story will give the world an understanding of what exactly is happening in our country.
“My first goal is to highlight how Ukrainian prisoners are tortured and treated, and to highlight the suffering caused by Russia’s illegal and unprovoked invasion of Ukraine. The genocide that Russia is committing in cities like Bucha, Irpen and my hometown Mariupol, no one has the right to forget, and I hope that my story will increase the understanding of what is happening in Ukraine,” commented Pinner.
