“Here is [Shigeru] Miyamoto. There will be a Nintendo Direct broadcast today, but before that, I’d like to make an announcement. The release date for the new Super Mario animated film in Japan has been set for April 24, 2026. We’re working with the Illumination team to make it fun, so look forward to it.”
Scheduled for today, the 18th, Nintendo Direct took place at 11am and was broadcast on the company’s YouTube channel, where announcements of new functions, games and accessories for Nintendo consoles were shared with fans.
It is worth remembering that the character’s first animated feature film, “Super Mario Bros. — The Movie”, came out on April 5, 2023, where fans were able to follow Mario and Luigi entering the mushroom kingdom, a place ruled by the Princess Peach, who faces the risk of being taken over by Bowser, king of the Koopas, causing the brother and sister duo to embark on an incredible adventure to keep the place safe.
The plot became the second highest grossing film worldwide last year, as well as the biggest adaptation of a game in cinemas.
