According to the director and screenwriter of “Moana 2”, David Derrick Jr., the sequel will pick up three years after the events of the first film. The information was revealed at the Annecy Animation Festival, in France, and, through an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the filmmaker also says that the protagonist will continue to brave the ocean throughout the story; check out:
We begin our story with Moana, three years after the first film. She is exploring the seas, looking for new islands, mapping the ocean, hoping to meet other people. As the people of Motunui haven’t seen anyone in generations, Moana knows that the ocean connects us. But for whom? Where are they? She’s looking for proof that the others are out there. She’s curious because she hasn’t found anyone.”
Still at the festival, other news about “Moana 2” were also revealed, such as some exclusive scenes, a snippet of the film’s opening song and the introduction of new characters, such as Moana’s younger sister and the adventurer Moni, who will join the protagonist’s crew because they share the same goals as her.
“Moana 2” hits theaters on November 28th, and, last May, a small teaser for the sequel was released through Disney’s social networks; watch!
