Remember the song from “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam” that was cut from the screen version, and was forgotten even by Demi Lovato
14 years ago, Disney Channel launched “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam”, a sequel to the classic released in 2008, starring Demi Lovato and the Jonas Brothers, which follows a group of teenagers living a remarkable summer at a music camp.
In the second film, the Camp Rockers return to camp to experience a new vacation with more adventures and lots of music. However, now they need to face the competition against Camp Star, a new camp led by a former bandmate of Brown (Daniel Fathers), who wants to close Camp Rock. To avoid the situation, the campers decide to compete in a Final Jam, televised throughout the country, where the public will decide which establishment will continue to operate.
Being extremely adored by fans since its release, to this day, the film’s soundtrack still has thousands of streams on digital platforms. However, for those who are just getting to know the film, it may be a little strange to find an “unknown” song on the album.
Forgotten music
The track in question is “Different Summers”, sung by Demi Lovato, and which is part of a discarded scene, present only in the DVD version. It takes place during Camp Rock campers’ first visit to Camp Star, before the contestants perform “Fire.”
On the occasion, when Axel Turner (Daniel Kash) asks if anyone from Camp Rock would like to perform, after seeing that no one did, Mitchie gets up and says she would like to volunteer, going to the stage with Shane’s guitar (Joe Jonas), and accompanied by Peggy (Jasmine Richards), Ella (Anna Maria Perez de Tagle) and Caitlyn (Alyson Stoner), who helped her as backing vocals.
Nowadays, in fact, the scene may not be very well known by some fans, especially those of the new generation. This is because the song is not present in the version available on the Disney+ streaming platform, in addition, at the time the film was shown on the Disney Channel, “Different Summers” also did not appear, remaining as an exclusive track for the DVD version.
However, if you don’t know or don’t remember this song, you don’t need to worry, because even the song itself Demi Lovato didn’t remember the song when he watched the franchise again.
The curious moment happened in 2020, when Demi decided that she would watch both films again alongside her boyfriend at the time, the actor Max Ehrich, and shared the moment through Instagram’s stories tool. In addition to laughing and making jokes at different times, Lovato was surprised when “Different Summers” appeared on the screen, saying he didn’t remember the song.
“I don’t remember this song. What? What song is that?” says the Mitchie Torres performer as she bursts into laughter.
