On social media, fans pointed out that the post by one of the Jeans members allegedly alludes to NewJeans’ accusations of plagiarism
This Thursday, the 23rd, a post titled “Mexican Girl Group ‘Jeans’ Instagram Upload” went viral on social media. In it, an internet user posted two stories on Instagram comparing the aesthetics of the Mexican group Jeans with that of the girl group NewJeans.
Paty Sivent, one of the members of Jeans, reposted both stories, leaving cryptic messages regarding the recent accusations of plagiarism made to NewJeans. Check out:
“I loved it”, says the caption of the first publication.
“All this time they plagiarized us right in front of our faces, and like, the clue was in the title”, to which Paty writes: “Wow! We weren’t that wrong”, say the captions of the second publication.

The debate comes from the fact that, in the second story, comments from Paty Sirvent give the idea that NewJeans had, in fact, plagiarized the girl group. Other internet users, however, were not so impressed with what happened, as many thought that the similarities between the aesthetics existed due to the fact that NewJeans has a strong connection with the fashion of the 90s and 2000s.
Since the conflict with the CEO of ADOR Min Hee Jinfans have criticized HYBE for allegedly reporting the girl group for plagiarism allegations, mainly because NewJeans is one of the groups managed by the corporation.
