The cultural association La Pasión presents its seventh production: the play “Upstairs Neighbors”featuring Aldo Miyashiro, Vanessa Terkes, Lita Baluarte and Sebastian Monteguirfo, directed by Daniela Lanzara.
“Upstairs Neighbors” is the theatrical debut of Spanish director Cesc Gay. The premiere took place in 2015 in Barcelona and was a complete success. Since then, it has been shown in several countries, and in 2020 it was released in cinemas under the name “Sentimental”, written and directed by the same Cesk Gay.
What is Upstairs Neighbors about?
One night AnnaVanessa Turkes) and July (Aldo Miyashiro) invite the neighbors to dinner Laura (Lita Baluarte) and Save (Sebastian Monteguirfo). With the onset of night, they discover the peculiar sexual inclinations of their neighbors and begin to rethink their own relationships, full of reproaches and immersed in total monotony. This meeting will push them to the limit and they will be forced to make drastic decisions about their relationship.
The performance, which increases in intensity as the “performances” end, tests the audience’s thoughts and preconceptions with humor and irony on topics such as coexistence, sex and love.
Upstairs neighbors will have a short season
Season’Upstairs neighbors It will take place from 7 to 17 July, from Thursday to Sunday, at 20:00 at Nuevo Teatro Julieta (Pasaje Porta 132, Miraflores). There will be only 8 functions. Tickets are sold at Joinnus and at the theater box office on performance days.
Daniela Lanzara, its director: “This work is a respite for all of us. After rehearsals, we couldn’t stop laughing at the absurd situations that these characters have to go through, but the most beautiful thing was to identify with the way they relate to each other. These two couples remind us how important it is to communicate without taboos and that when routine overtakes us, it’s very easy to forget who we are and what really matters to us.”
