BELIFT LAB, the agency that manages the girl group ILLIT, went directly to court against accusations of plagiarism from ADOR CEO, Min Hee Jin; understand!
BELIFT LAB, the agency that manages the girl group ILLIT, announced this Wednesday, the 22nd, that it is taking legal action against the CEO of ADOR, Min Hee Jin. The reason behind the action is related to a statement published last month, where a businesswoman accused ILLIT of plagiarizing the NewJeans concept.
The agency published a statement (via Soompi) to report what happened; check the translation:
Hello, this is BELIFT LAB.
Today (May 22), we filed a complaint against ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin on charges of business interference and defamation for causing harm to our company and our affiliated artists with her unilateral false claims.
We clearly state that the plagiarism allegations leveled by Min Hee Jin against the girl group ILLIT are not true. We present to the judicial authorities evidence that can prove these allegations are false and, even if it takes some time, we will clarify the truth through appropriate legal procedures.
The determination of whether intellectual property has been plagiarized must be made based on reasonable standards and procedures, not unilateral and distorted interpretations. We express our regret that the efforts and achievements of our artists are being undermined by indiscriminate speculation and false information.
Furthermore, although this issue is not related to ILLIT, members are experiencing personal hate attacks. We sincerely request that all indiscriminate insults, malicious slander, dissemination of false information and defamatory attacks against the artists cease immediately.
We will do our best to protect our artists and members.
Thanks.
