Bernard Hill was born on December 17, 1944 in Manchester, England. He attended Xaverian College and later studied at Manchester Polytechnic School of Drama, graduating in 1970.
Since the 1970s he has acted in films and television. Hill first gained fame in the UK after playing Yosser Hughes in the television series Blackstaff Boys. This role brought Hill many awards.
