After being accused of causing the disbandment of GFRIEND, Min Hee Jin, CEO of ADOR, spoke about the case in a new press conference
In an emergency press conference held this Thursday, 25th, the CEO Min Hee Jinfrom the LOVEtook a stand on the accusations of being one of the culprits for the disbandment of GFRIEND, a group from Source Music, a subsidiary agency of HYBE, whose end was announced on May 22, 2021.
The complaints, made by fans on social media, arose, therefore, when Min Hee Jin was hired by HYBE in 2019 and became the company’s Branding Director, she also received a new responsibility: overseeing HYBE’s new girl group, NewJeans, which at the time would be released through Source Music.
Even so, Min Hee Jin created ADOR and took the members of NewJeans, who were Source Music trainees, to ADOR. This led to the belief that the investment in the girls’ training had not been paid for, as, shortly afterwards, Source Music was unable to guarantee the renewal of contracts with GFRIEND, culminating in the group’s end.
However, the trainee years of Minji, Hanni,Danielle, Haerin It is Hyein in the old company they were not in debt, Hee Jin covered all expenses before transferring them to ADOR. With this, the CEO declared at the press conference that she has no involvement in the separation of GFRIEND.
I don’t know why everyone is blaming me for their breakup. I have nothing to do with it. I’m someone who only cares about my own work. […] I feel sorry for the group, but the label’s branding was so bad that people wouldn’t apply to audition because of GFRIEND. And that was before HYBE was created as a multiple brand.”
It is worth mentioning that an emergency press conference was held due to the information that the South Korean media received following the audit initiated by HYBE against ADOR due to the suspicion that ADOR’s management was trying to transform the agency into an independent company.
The case remains ongoing.
