Find out which are the only Disney princesses who have short hair in their animations
Disney princesses are one of the most profitable and popular franchises ever launched in the history of animation. Being adored by thousands of people of different ages around the world, each character was created with the aim of making the public identify with them.
In addition to their personalities, the physical characteristics of each one were also taken into account, such as their hair. Among them, we can see girls with locks of different colors and curvatures. For example, while Aurora and Cinderella have blonde and straight hair, Moana and Merida already have curly hair, brown and red, respectively.
However, among all the princesses, only two appear with short hair in their stories: Snow White and Rapunzel, who cuts her locks at the end of the film. At the same time, it is curious when we realize that the protagonist of “Tangled” is also the one with the longest hair.
This is because, according to official Disney data, Rapunzel has 100,000 strands on her head, exactly 20 meters long. The studio also points out that, if they were placed next to each other, end to end, they would add up to around 300 kilometers.
To animate this huge head of hair, according to information shared by Rolling Stone magazine, it was necessary to create exclusive technology to animate the movements of the hair, making “Tangled” the first Disney animation to use CGI.
Another character who also has respectable hair and needed new technology just for her locks is Merida. The studio’s official website states that the princess has 11,700 strands on her head, 1,500 of which were drawn individually.
Despite not having surpassed Rapunzel as the hairiest princess, Walt Disney Studios still developed new technology to be able to handle so much volume.
