The organizers encourage everyone to have a constructive dialogue and support the artists working on the music and entertainment show.
The European Language Union (EBU) has called on fans of the song competition to show respect for criticized Israeli representative Eden Golan.
“The European Language Union recognizes the depth of emotion generated by the song competition Eurovision, which takes place against the backdrop of a horrific war in the Middle East. We understand that people will want to participate in the debate and express their thoughts. All deep insights into this matter are influenced by the grievances, stories and undeniable pain experienced by the people of Israel and Gaza. However, we would like to draw attention to the concerns and discussions surrounding this situation, especially the targeted campaigns on social media against some of our member artists,” said EBU Deputy Director General Jean Philippe de Tender.
In particular, Eurofans have called for Israel to be excluded from this year’s competition, just as Russia was excluded in 2022 due to the invasion of Ukraine.
However, the EBU did not do so, explaining that the relationship between the Israeli broadcaster KAN and the Israeli government was different from the previous participants who were expelled.
At the same time, the organizers of the competition said that they support freedom of speech and the right to express views. However, they oppose any criticism or harassment directed at artists or anyone associated with the competition.
“The EBU is committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for all participants, staff and fans Eurovision. We will work closely with all stakeholders to promote the values of respect, inclusion and understanding both online and offline,” the statement said.
Earlier it was reported that the representatives of Ukraine in Eurovision 2024 Alyona alyona and Jerry Heil will perform in the first semi-final as number five.
