Superman’s first HQ is sold for millions of dollars and breaks records

The first issue of the Superman comic was sold to a fan for an impressive amount, breaking the record for another Man of Steel comic

The “Action Comic #1” issue, which introduced Superman to the world, sold at auction for an astonishing $6 million. The value was so high that it surpassed the record of another Man of Steel magazine: Superman #1, from 1939, sold in 2022 for US$5.3 million.

According to The Hollywood Reporter (via Omelete), the comic had an 8.5 rating for its state of conservation, being in almost perfect preservation conditions. However, even the version of the comic that introduced the hero, rated at 0.5, sold for an incredible $408,000 in September 2023.

This demonstrates how much the superhero is loved by fans. Furthermore, it is important to remember that a new film based on the character is in development by DC, this time, with David Corenswet in the title role, inaugurating a new generation of hero.

Titled ‘Superman’, the film arrives in theaters in July, being the first film in the new DCU. Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, Skyler Gisondo, Isabella Merced, Nathan Fillion, Sara Sampaio, Maria Gabriela de Faria It is Anthony Carrigan are also confirmed in the cast.

In Brazil, all films already released about Superman and other DC Studios films, from the oldest to the most recent, are available through the Max streaming service (formerly HBO Max).
