What was Prince Hans’ life like before ‘Frozen’?

Discover what Prince Hans’ life was like before the events presented in Disney’s “Frozen”

Launched in 2013, the “Frozen” franchise has become one of the most popular and profitable ever launched by Disney. In the plot, which follows the adventures of sisters Elsa and Anna, we meet Prince Hans, a character who managed to deceive everyone by revealing his true intentions at the end of the first film.

During the film, little was explained about the character’s life, and what his motivations were for him to become the big villain. What we do know is that Hans came from the Southern Isles, and is the youngest of 13 children. With that, he tried to marry Anna, to have the chance to become king, since, at home, this would never happen.

The antagonist’s life before the events of “Frozen” is explained a little more through the books “A Frozen Heart”, by Elizabeth Rudnickand “Conceal, Don’t Feel: A Twisted Tale”, by the author Jen Calonita.

In the works, it is explained that, as the youngest, Hans is forgotten by his 12 brothers, in addition to having grown up being frequently emotionally and physically bullied by his elders. Furthermore, as reported by the ScreenRant portal, he was also belittled by his father.

This is because the man, who highly valued strength, saw his youngest son as extremely weak, precisely because he never stood up to the provocations made by his elders. The books also say that the only brother Hans trusted and considered as a friend was Lars.

Despite the information present in the works, Disney never officially commented on what the character’s life was like before the films. Likewise, there are also few details about his fate after being sent back to the Southern Islands at the end of the second film.

The only information revealed about what happened to Hans appears in the short film “Frozen: Freezing Fever”, from 2015, where the character appears collecting horse manure with the same outfit he was wearing when he was deported.
