The LV Monogram Star cut is a technical feat at the heart of the new LV Diamonds jewelry collection.
The LV Monogram Star size is directly inspired by the star monogram flower created in 1896 by Georges Vuitton to honor his deceased father, the house’s founder, four decades earlier. This four-pointed star is one of the iconic canvas motifs of the famous trunk maker, with the initials LV and a circle surrounded by a quadrangle. Graphic, it gives the jewelry a unique shine.
First appearing in bespoke pieces and then in fine jewelry, the LV Monogram Star cut from Louis Vuitton is now the subject of a collection called LV Diamonds. Signed by artistic director Francesca Amphitheater, it consists of single slides, rings, unisex rings, stud earrings and pendants, available in white gold, rose gold and platinum for some pieces. LV Monogram Star stones are optically 20% larger than “brilliant” cuts of the same weight due to this petal cut.

Technical innovation
It took two years of work to develop this cut exclusively for Louis Vuitton jewelry, the LV Monogram Star, which features 53 facets versus 57 for the traditional lustrous cut. It takes 40% longer to complete or 140 hours. One of the main challenges is symmetry, which must be perfect. Technically, the LV Monogram Star size includes no less than four different crafts.blocker“, which cuts the main faces of the stone. THE “groove”, was specifically requested for this exclusive cut that creates holes between each point; THE “to shine”, which takes care of the smallest faces; and the “polisher”, which gives the stone its final appearance and shine.
To celebrate the launch of the LV Diamonds collection, Louis Vuitton presents its first Diamond Certificate. This document guarantees the traceability of each piece of jewelry, from mining to casing, thanks to blockchain technology in collaboration with the specialized platform Aura Blockchain Consortium. Due to the decentralized storage, the data related to the registered diamond is falsified.
