The film is one of the most expensive Ukrainian films – the budget is 120 million UAH. The premiere in Ukrainian cinemas took place on August 24, 2023.
The streaming platform Netflix is considering the possibility of creating an extended version of the Ukrainian film Dovbush. This was announced by the director and producer of the film Oles Sanin.
In particular, a four-part series may appear. According to the actor of the film, the film does not have much footage. Therefore, the viewer is likely to see a lot of new footage.
“Negotiations continue with the international Netflix – this is the English-speaking part of the world, mainly the USA and Canada. That they are considering a wider version of the film, which will be a separate four-part series . We are waiting for a financial proposal. There is a high possibility that the audience will see the four-episode version of the Dovbush movie,” he said.
Oles Sanin also admitted that it was a surprise for the creative team that Netflix included the film in the top five films in Ukraine. The film has been shown in 27 countries around the world. It is currently airing in Indonesia. The film was also shown successfully in France and Poland, and was also translated into 16 languages.
The director also said that three Polish film schools – in Lodz, Warsaw and Gdynia, the Gdansk School – invited him and costume designer Gala Otenko to tell how Dovbush was shot.
Earlier it was reported that the historical film Dovbush directed by Oles Sanin collected more than 60 million Hryvnias at the box office.
