What did Drake Bell say in the controversial documentary about former Nickelodeon actors?

Last weekend, the four-episode documentary series ‘Quiet On Set: The Dark Side Of Kids TV’ premiered in the United States, produced which presents the dark behind-the-scenes of some of Nickelodeon’s main children’s productions, released in the late 90s and early 2000s.

The documentary, which does not yet have a release date in Brazil, drew attention mainly due to the shocking reports from some of the biggest stars of Nick’s main series, such as Drake Bellprotagonist of the series “Drake & Josh”.

During the third episode of the production, as reported by Entertainment Weekly, Drake gives details for the first time about the sexual abuse he suffered from Nickelodeon’s former dialogue coach, Brian Pecksentenced to prison in 2004 for the same crime, while both were working on the program “The Amanda Show”.

Bell, who is now 37 years old, explains that the two became closer due to common interests, mainly in matters related to Old Hollywood. However, the actor also states that, today, he believes that this approach from the producer “was probably a little calculated”.

“Drake would be in the dressing room or something, and Brian would come out and just touch Drake, you know, do stuff like that. […] So he would maybe walk up to Drake and give him some lines or something, and put his arm around his waist, put his arm around his shoulders and things like that. And this happened routinely. It was always uncomfortable”, explained Joe.

The father of Bell he also reveals that he even reported the situation to Nickelodeon management, however, he ended up being accused of homophobia.

“I went into production and said, ‘You know, I’m actually really uncomfortable with this guy, Brian Peck, always being around my son.’ I said: ‘I don’t see anything unusual, but I don’t have a good feeling.’ And she said, ‘Oh, I don’t know if you knew or not, but he [Brian Peck] is gay. Maybe you’re just homophobic and just don’t understand that he’s a caring guy. So I said, ‘Okay.’ And that just didn’t sit well with me, so I told people on set. And I was ostracized, so I backed down.”

Second Drake, Peck It would have been one of the main reasons why his relationship with his father worsened after being cast as the protagonist in “Drake & Josh”. “He started talking about how my dad is stealing my money, nobody likes my dad being on set, he’s a real problem. Then he started making me believe that he was horrible for my career, that I wouldn’t be able to move forward with him. And coming from someone like BrianI believed it”, revealed the actor.

Right after, Bell says he believes that Brian would have taken advantage of the fragile moment in the relationship between his parents, who had already divorced, to convince his mother to make him fire him Joe as a businessman, in addition to letting the teenager sleep at his house to take him to tests — a moment that marks the beginning of the physical abuse.

“I was sleeping on the couch where I would normally sleep and I woke up to him — I opened my eyes, woke up and he was sexually assaulting me. And I froze and I was in total shock, and I had no idea what to do or how to react. I had no idea how to get out of that situation. What I’ll do? Calling my mom and saying ‘Hey, this just happened, can you come get me? I’m going to sit here and wait.’ I didn’t have a car, I didn’t drive. I was 15 years old at that time.”, said Drake.

During the episode, the actor explains that, for a long time, he was unable to expose the event, and that is why he kept everything secret. However, the abuses became increasingly worse, as Peck he had figured out how to convince his mother to let him sleep over more often. According to the protagonist of ‘Drake & Josh’, the harassment “got worse and worse and worse and worse. And I got stuck. And there was no, there was no way out. The abuse was extensive and became quite brutal.”

Drake adds that the situation only changed when his girlfriend’s mother realized that something was wrong, after Brian Peck calling your home incessantly. As a result, the woman allegedly took him to a therapist, who helped him open up about the abuse to his mother.

After the investigations began, Bell says that he lived through very difficult times because he needed to remember in detail everything he went through, however, he says that the worst part was having to call his abuser and “make him admit what he had done.”

“I said, you know, ‘I’m really struggling with these things right now, and I’m so devastated, I’m so broken, I can’t, I’m so emotionally distressed right now. Why did this happen?’. He just started a full confession. And then, he kept asking me over and over, ‘Are we being recorded?’ It was all these mixed emotions of ‘Thank God this is finally resolved and finally something happened to this person.’ I was like, ‘What’s next, what’s next, you know?'”

Brian Peck He was arrested in 2003 and convicted in 2004 of child sexual abuse after failing to deny any of the 11 charges. According to information from People, the producer was registered as a sexual offender, and remained in prison for 16 months, being released in 2005. Today, according to TMZ, Peck lives freely in Los Angeles, California.
