The baseball player, who was one of the sources of inspiration for “A League of Their Own,” is speaking publicly for the first time about his sexuality.
The Women’s League became immortal in a 1992 Hollywood film “Just Championship With Gina Davis, Tom Hanks and Madonna. The film also laid the groundwork for a new Amazon Prime series created by Abby Jacobson and Will Graham of “Broad City”.

Like the 1992 film, “Own League” opened in 1943 and follows the fictional members of the Rockford Peaches. According to press reports, the series moves away from the film by taking a “deeper look at race and sexuality, the journey of an entirely new set of characters as they cross paths towards their camp, in and out of the league. “
A teaser for the show, released earlier this month, refers to a flirtation between actors Carson (played by Jacobson) and Greta (D’Arcy Carden).
