5 Disney princesses that aren’t real princesses

Meet some Disney princesses who, in fact, have no connection to royalty in their stories

Disney princesses are one of Disney’s most popular and profitable franchises. Being loved all over the world, many of these characters, who are sometimes not even officially part of the select group, are not real princesses in their stories, and received the title just to be part of the licensing.

With that in mind, RECREIO put together a list of 5 Disney princesses that aren’t real princesses. Check out!

1. Mulan

Mulan has no ties to Chinese royalty, but becomes a heroine of the country after saving the emperor during the villain Shan Yu’s invasion of the imperial palace. Due to the enormous success of her film, Disney would have decided to include her in the select group of princesses due to her heroism.

2. Tiana

Tiana comes from a humble family, which also does not have blue blood, and works hard as a waitress in a restaurant to save money and be able to open her own restaurant. She only becomes a princess after marrying Prince Naveen, at the end of “The Princess and the Frog”.

3. Jane

Despite relating to Tarzan, the King of the Apes, Disney does not consider Jane to be a princess. Furthermore, her origins are also far from royalty, as she is the daughter of an ordinary researcher.

4. Emerald

As reported by the ScreenRant portal, Esmeralda was initially part of the Disney Princess franchise due to her heroism in “The Hunchback of Notre Dame”, in addition to being an extremely kind, frank, thoughtful and intelligent person — just like a real princess . However, the character does not have any real status.

5. Megara

Megara, or simply Meg, is Hercules’ romantic interest, in addition to being considered a revolutionary character at Disney for being one of the first to appear in the role of heroine, and not a girl in danger. For this reason, many people mistake her as a princess, however, she has never been labeled that way, and has no relationship with royalty in her history.
