Discover 5 b-sides from different K-pop groups that deserved to have an MV when they were released
In K-pop, b-sides are the songs on an album that are not the title track or pre-release singles, that is, all songs that are not used during promotional activities for groups and soloists’ comebacks, therefore, it is common for these songs not to receive MVs.
Still, there are several b-sides that became as popular as the tracks used during a promotion, and that, like the main single and promotional singles, deserved to have a video. With that in mind, RECREIO brought together 5 of them in the list below.
1. Forever Young – BLACKPINK
“Forever Young”, a track released by BLACKPINK in 2018 as part of the EP “Square Up” has more than 300 million plays on Spotify and more than 200 million views on the Dance Practice Video available on the YouTube channel of the agency that manages the group’s career, YG Entertainment.
2. “Cry For Me” – TWICE
With 137 million views on the choreography video published on YouTube and more than 200 million streams on Spotify, “Cry For Me” is a single by TWICE, released in 2020.
The lyrics talk about a girl who still loves her ex-love despite everything they’ve faced and wants him to express a similar feeling towards her.
3. “The Eve” – EXO
From EXO’s fourth album titled “THE WAR”, the b-side “The Eve” was released on July 18, 2017, earning its Dance Practice a few days later, on August 4 of that year. The video has already accumulated almost 150 million views, while on Spotify it has more than 160 million reproductions.
The song talks about the importance and determination to overcome obstacles and challenges that arise while trying to achieve goals.
4. “Illusion” – aespa
aespa’s second EP, “Girls”, featured the track “Illusion” released on June 1, 2022 with a Lyric Video that has 27 million views on YouTube. Meanwhile, on Spotify, the song has been listened to almost 140 million times.
The track describes a magical night full of illusions to reflect on how life can be full of adventures if you make the most of it without fear of the unknown.
5. “Run BTS” – BTS
“Run BTS” can be found on the album “Proof”, by BTSreleased in 2022. With over 400 million plays on Spotify and 122 million views on Dance Practice published on the YouTube channel BANGTANTV, the track definitely deserved an MV.
