“I love my family”. Prince Harry breaks his silence for the first time and talks about his father’s cancer.

Ten days after his visit to England, the Duke of Sussex spoke about Charles III’s illness on Good Morning America this Friday, February 16.

His visit lasted no more than 30 minutes. Following the announcement of his father’s cancer, Prince Harry boarded an emergency plane on Tuesday, February 6, to be at his bedside. But would leave immediately, flying back the same evening. Since then, the Duke of Sussex has not spoken publicly about his father’s illness. It is now done. In an interview with Good Morning America this Friday, February 16, Meghan Markle’s husband spoke about his brief stay in England.

“I’m grateful that I got to spend time with him.”

After learning about his father’s cancer, which was officially announced on February 5, Prince Harry decided to visit him in person as soon as possible. “I jumped on a plane and went to see him as much as I could,” he told reporter Will Reeve during a visit to Whistler, Canada. Before adding: “Listen, I love my family. I’m thankful to be able to get on a plane and go see him and spend time with him.” If the Duke of Sussex did not want to say more about his father’s illness, however, he expressed a desire to visit him again soon.

“I have other trips in the UK and I will visit the family as much as possible,” he stressed. When asked if this news could signal a possible rapprochement between him and the Windsors, Prince Harry replied: “Yes, I’m sure of it.” He thus drew a parallel between his plight and that of relatives of Invictus Games athletes. “In all of these families, I see once again every day the power of the family unit coming together,” she said. So yes, I think any illness brings families together. I see it over and over and it makes me so happy.”

“They have an incredible sense of humor.”

An interview during which Prince Harry also talked about his own children. “They both have an incredible sense of humor, they make us laugh every day and keep us grounded, like most kids do,” she said. I am very grateful to be a father.” The Duke of Sussex also said that he is thinking about getting American citizenship.

When asked what prevents him from doing this, he answered: “I have no idea. American citizenship is a thought that has crossed my mind, but certainly not a priority for me at this time.” Prince Harry and his wife are actually on a three-day visit to Canada for the One Year to Go event in preparation for the Invictus Games 2025.
