The son of the last sovereign of La Botte, sentenced to exile in June 1946, Victor-Emmanuel of Savoy died on Saturday, February 3, at the age of 86, after a ten-day hospitalization in Geneva. Slipping into a coma in his final moments, the eight-year-old died in Helvetia, the country that had welcomed him for decades. Victor-Emmanuel of Savoy, however, re-established contact with Italy in 2002 thanks to the end of his exile voted by parliament. His funeral took place in Turin Cathedral this Saturday, February 10.
