‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ debuts soon on Netflix and will be a little different from the original animation; understand why!
“Avatar: The Last Airbender” premieres on February 22, with half the episodes that the first season of the original animation has. This is because the series was forced to adapt to Netflix’s drama format, meaning that Aang’s narrative had to become “a little clearer”, as revealed Albert Kimshowrunner of the 2024 series, in an interview with IGN.
However, Kim stated that although some famous Team Avatar scenes are not in the live-action, Aang’s journey will have the same beginning and ending as the book one “Avatar: The Last Airbender.” So fans can be worry-free!
[A motivação de Aang] It’s a little looser, as befits a cartoon. We needed to make sure he had that motivation [alta] from the beginning. And so, that’s a change that we made. Essentially, we give him this vision of what’s going to happen and he says, ‘I have to get to the Northern Water Tribe to stop this from happening.’ This gives him a lot more narrative compulsion going forward, rather than [quando Aang diz] “We’re going to take a detour and ride the elephant koi, that kind of thing,” the showrunner revealed in an interview with IGN.
According to Albert Kim, narrative changes will happen especially in the first season. Since, the first book has more deviations from the main plot than the next ones.
Even with the changes, the showrunner and Jabbar Raisanidirector and visual effects supervisor Jabbar Raisani guarantee that fans will enjoy “Avatar: The Last Airbender.”
In the first season of the animation [o formato] It’s the adventure of the week. So a big part of the process in the writers’ room was sorting through all these stories and seeing where the narrative threads were, and then weaving them together into a much more serialized drama. This is the version of Avatar that I would like to see as a fan”, added the filmmaker.
