A painting by an Austrian artist thought to have been lost for around 100 years will be auctioned on April 24, 2024.

A painting by Austrian artist Gustav Klimt, thought lost for nearly 100 years, has been found in Vienna. This was reported by the auction house Im Kinsky.

It is known that the portrait of Fräulein Lieser was last seen in public in 1925, and then it disappeared. However, it has now been found, and the Im Kinsky auction house estimates its value at more than $54 million.

The picture once belonged to the Lieser family, wealthy Jewish industrialists in Vienna.

For decades, this important work of art was privately owned by an Austrian citizen, unknown to the general public.

The painting will be auctioned on April 24 on behalf of the owners and heirs of the Leeser family, based on the Washington Principles. This is an international agreement to return works of art stolen by the Nazis to the descendants of the people from whom they were stolen.
