The open letter was signed by directors, producers, heads of public film organizations and other representatives of the film industry. It can also be signed by other Ukrainians until January 26.
The Ukrainian film community is calling on the authorities to redirect the money allocated to support cinematography to the Defense Forces.
The reason for creating the letter is the lack of confidence in Goskino, which will manage the allocated money – 589.6 million Hryvnia.
“Of course, Ukrainian cinema, like all culture in general, needs a lot of attention and budgetary support for the development and representation of Ukraine in the world, and it is a strong element of cultural diplomacy. Unfortunately Unfortunately, years of incompetent and dysfunctional work of the Goskino management convinces us that the allocated funds will be used ineffectively and with many violations,” the letter said.
In addition, the signatories demand: to dismiss the leadership of Goskino, whose actions destroy the film industry and cause damage to the reputation at the international level, to conduct a transparent competition for the position of the new head of Goskino and members of the Council for State Support to Cinematography in the prescribed manner and under public control, to develop a project in a transparent process Strategies for the development of cinema with public participation.
We remind you that earlier the State Cinema Committee of Ukraine opposed the entry of films from the Russian Federation to the Cannes Film Festival.
