Olivier Rousteing presented his men’s Fall-Winter 2024 collection for Balmain on January 20 at the Grande Halle de la Villette. Surprise star, superstar Naomi Campbell.
For more than thirty years, he has dominated the parades with his arrogant appearance. For Olivier Rousteing, he closed the Balmain show this Saturday with a golden arm. Naomi Campbell made a surprise appearance on the catwalk, marking the brand’s return to menswear fashion week after a four-year absence. The top model appeared last, following 53 other models. She wore flowing black trousers, a beige shirt with a plunging neckline and a beige coat draped over her shoulders. At the waist, a bunch of golden roses, held by two golden hands that gripped her hips, some sort of four-armed trompe l’oeil.

In Greek mythology, the four hands represent “All”. Man had four arms, four legs and two faces at his creation, then split in two, condemning him to search for his mate for the rest of his life. Perhaps we can read a message of love there, like the red kisses on the dresses, shaped by the lips of the Balmain team. Maybe a nod to the picture too The magician By René Magritte, painted in 1952. Which would be another reference to surrealism in this parade, next to the gold bib shirt and tie, “dental belt” and oversized irises. The rest of the parade celebrated sappers and a sense of African elegance, a tribute to Olivier Rousteing’s roots.
