Find out which series have accumulated the most nominations at the 75th edition of the Emmy Awards, which takes place tomorrow, the 15th
Countdown activated for the biggest awards show for American television programs and professionals! This is because, tomorrow, the 15th, the 2023 Emmy Awards take place, where the main productions launched between June 1, 2022 and May 31, 2023, compete for the golden statuette in the event’s dozens of categories.
The 75th edition of the awards ceremony will be held at the Peacock Theater at LA Live, in downtown Los Angeles, and broadcast in Brazil via the television channel TNT and the streaming platform HBO Max from 9:30 pm, Brasília time.
Please note: The ceremony was originally scheduled for September 18 last year, but due to strikes by the actors’ and writers’ unions (SAG-AFTRA and WGA, respectively) that occurred during 2013, the celebration was postponed.
In addition to TV programs such as reality shows and talk shows, the award also recognizes the achievements of series, highlighting the best scripts, best actors, best directions and best productions in total in several categories. Thus, the question arises: which series are most nominated for an Emmy this year?
The answer is simple! In total, there were 4 series that surpassed the twenty nominations mark. Are they:
- Succession: From HBO, “Succession” received 27 nominations for its final season. The series follows the Roy family, responsible for one of the largest media and entertainment conglomerates in the world, as they reflect on politics, money and power.
- The Last of Us: Also from HBO, the adaptation of the game franchise that emerged in 2013 by Naughty Dog, “The Last of Us” has 24 nominations. The plot was recommended for its first season, which follows Joel on the mission to take Ellie (the only one immune to the fungus that almost destroyed humanity) out of the quarantine zone.
- The White Lotus: With 23 nominations, “The White Lotus” becomes the third most nominated series on HBO this year. The story, released in 2021, presents “a social satire through the employees and guests of a seemingly idyllic Hawaiian resort”, as revealed in the synopsis.
- Ted Lasso: Earning 21 nominations, “Ted Lasso”, a comedy series on Apple TV, follows an American football coach who goes to England to coach a football team.
In addition to these, 6 more series stand out for receiving more than ten nominations: “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” (14 nominations), “The Bear” (13 nominations), “Treta” (13 nominations), “Dahmer: An American Cannibal” (13 nominations), “Wandinha” (12 nominations) and “Barry” (11 nominations).
