In an interview, actress Alexa Nikolas, Nicole from ‘Zoey 101′, revealed what Jamie Lynn Spears’ behavior was like behind the scenes of the series
Launched in 2005, the series “Zoey 101” was one of the most popular on Nickelodeon in the 2000s. The plot follows the daily life of Zoey Brooks (Jamie Lynn Spears), a teenager who sees her life take on new pages after studying at Pacific Coast Academy, a boarding school that previously only allowed boys to enter.
The production ran for 4 seasons, coming to an end in 2008. With its end, some controversies about the atmosphere behind the scenes of the series began to emerge in the media, mainly related to the relationship between the cast members.
In the year 2022, Jamie Lynn Spearsthe actress responsible for playing the protagonist, released her memoir “Things I Should Have Said” (“Things I Should Have Said”, in literal translation), where she states that Alexa NikolasNicole from “Zoey 101”, spread nasty rumors about her on the recording set.
During an interview given in 2023 to the H3 podcast, alexa contradicted the accusations, stating that Jamie created “a very toxic and unhealthy work environment. She would say harsh things to me, like, ‘Why do you smile so much?’ Just boring kid stuff. But at that time it hurt. I was a child.”.
Second Nikolasthe attitudes of Spears against her influenced the entire cast, causing the other actors to also change their behavior. “The fact that she didn’t like me made everyone feel like they had to engage in this type of behavior too,” she revealed.
The actress continues her speech stating that the same thing happened after the arrival of Victoria Justice in the cast. alexa explains that, in the beginning, she and the interpreter of Lola Martinez remained friends until the middle of the second season, however, her attitude changed after she got closer to Jamie Lynn.
“They were bullying me. At one point Victoria and I were totally fine, so I don’t know what happened – it was literally a talk about boys, I remember it being a lot of teenage girls talk about boys – I showed up on set the next day , and I remember opening the trailer and seeing Victoria turn around and laugh and whisper in Jamie’s ear.”
During the interview, Nikolas also reveals that his older sister Jamiethe pop diva Britney Spearsalso intimidated her behind the scenes.
“She started yelling at me, saying I was bullying her sister,” he recalled. “She was like, ‘I’m going to make sure you don’t work again.’”
Despite the incident, alexa stated that he received an apology from Britney years later.
“It’s the only apology I’ve received in Hollywood. Hearing someone understand that their feelings are valid, it’s okay that it still hurts and it’s okay that there’s a wound there – we all deserve to hear that,” said the actress.
Zoey 102
Last year, Jamie Lynn Spears returned to her iconic role of Zoey in the revival “Zoey 102”, a film that follows the characters ten years after high school graduation, and features the return of much of the original cast.
