According to a theory created by a fan of ‘Monsters Inc.’, the fear would have arisen thanks to the monsters’ first visit to the human world. Understand!
During the animation “Monstros Inc”, by Pixar, we discovered that, despite the energy of the city of Monstropolis being generated through the screams of children, little ones are feared by monsters, believing that they are extremely toxic and lethal beings.
A clear moment that presents this enormous fear of the characters against humans is in the scene in which Boo appears in the restaurant where Mike was with his girlfriend, causing a huge uproar in the region — even causing the arrival of the special forces, and with all the event being reported on television.
But, have you ever wondered why monsters are so afraid of humans? A theory created by a fan and shared through the Reddit platform may explain this big question.
Bubonic plague?
According to user r/FanTheories, the fear would have arisen due to the monsters’ experience on their first visit to the human world. The hypothesis states that, at the time, it would be the height of the Bubonic Plague pandemic, which occurred during the 14th century.
It was also during this trip that they would have discovered that screams function as a source of energy for their world. However, when they returned to Monstropolis, the visitors had fleas carrying the disease, bringing the bacteria to the world of monsters.
As a result, the epidemic also spread throughout the city, causing countless deaths and generating a strong belief among the population that the disease would be transmitted through human children, and would be terribly dangerous for monsters.
The theory, however, was never confirmed by Pixar. However, many fans came to believe in the hypothesis mainly due to the great technological advancement in the world of monsters, making it easily possible that, even during the 14th century, they could have invented a basic portal to access the world of humans.
