The newest adaptation was highly anticipated by fans, especially after the version presented in theaters did not please those who already followed the saga through the books. Among the main criticisms is the great distance from the original version, the exclusion of important figures for the story, terms and concepts being explained in a confusing way, in addition to the change in the characters’ personalities.
Another point that was also widely criticized by fans is Percy’s age. In the books, the demigod is described as a 12-year-old boy, however, in the films, he appears much older, like a teenager.
This is because, as reported by the ScreenRant portal, in “Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief”, the first adaptation released in 2010, Logan Lermanthe actor responsible for playing the protagonist, was 17 years old, while his character is described as a young man of 16. In the second feature, in “Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters”, the performer had turned 21.
Now, the series produced by Disney+ corrects this error so questioned by admirers. During the recording period, Walker Scobell, the new Percy Jackson, was only a year older than his character, and was 13 years old. Today, Walker has already turned 14 years old.
