Selena Gomez. “The idea behind my skin care range is to make you as comfortable as possible”

“Find comfort”. is the name of the first skin care line of Rare Beauty cosmetics brand founded by Selena Gomez. That’s also what the actress is encouraging to do with the launch of these four wellness-focused body products: a nourishing skin lotion, a moisturizing hand cream, a hair and body mist, and an aromatherapy pen. This ritual of joyful and sensual beauty, which invites to pamper the body and mind, also has a unique olfactory signature that is very dear to the singer. My mind and me . In celebration of the launch of the Find Comfort range at Sephora (1) this winter, the singer agreed to give us an exclusive first preview.

Madame Figaro: This is your first time creating skin care products. Instead of releasing a face cream or serum, you’re eyeing a range of body care products that focus on well-being. Why this choice?
Selena Gomez: I love body products. I always use treatments that calm me down when I’m stressed or having a rough day. I’ve been so inspired lately by this whole sensory dimension like aromas and textures. The purpose of this domain is to take a moment to find comfort even though we all have so much. The idea is to be able to give ourselves a sense of comfort as best we can, even if it’s just an aromatherapy pen with you, knowing that it can help you relax before an event.

Tell us about the product formula… How was it developed?
We have chosen each ingredient very carefully. In particular, there is ashwagandha, a natural “anti-stress” Ayurvedic active ingredient. Niacinamide helps regenerate healthy skin cells while improving the skin’s barrier, while sodium hyaluronate helps maintain skin elasticity and firmness. We’ve also included peach blossom extract, a blend of antioxidants that calms and soothes the skin. The presence of biotin in the Mist formulation was particularly important to me as it strengthens hair and skin in addition to the already refreshing effect of its formula.

The sign of smell is omnipresent in every product and seems to have a special significance in this comforting ritual…
Absolutely. Creating this perfume was very important for me. I love how fragrance can transport you to another time or place. We worked with French perfumer Jerome Epinet to create a comforting yet luminous scent with notes of vetiver, tonka bean and lemon zest.

Are you personally a fan of aromatherapy?
I have always loved using aromatherapy oils in my routine. I use it especially in the shower or bath, but above all I always apply it behind my ears or on my wrists when I need to relax or take a minute to myself. What’s your go-to wellness ritual for “finding comfort”?
Light a candle, take a bath, write in my journal and spend time with family and friends. All these little moments are part of my wellness routine and bring me so much comfort.
I personally see a difference in my mental health when I give myself time to take care of myself and find these comforting moments. I think there is a connection between self-care and mental health. For example, as much as I don’t like working out, I immediately see the change it makes me feel.
